For the vehicle registered in the Republic of Slovenia, the same emission class is recognized for the toll payment as has been for the vehicle defined for the payment of the annual road user tax. For vehicles registered abroad, the emission class is defined on the basis of a copy evidencing the homology (production) or CEMT permit.
For the vehicle belonging to the emission class EURO III or EURO IV or higher, the lower toll could be paid only in connection with the DARS d.d. electronic media, as follows:
- The DARS card or DARS card Transporter or
- Electronic tag of the ABC system for 1st toll class (R3) or 2nd toll class (R4)
For putting into effect the EURO emission class and therefore paying the discounted toll, correctly shall be completed:
- an application for adjusting and/or issuing electronic media with regard to the EURO emission class and
- send or submit the application to the Toll User Centre, Grič 54, 1000 Ljubljana where the electronic media will be adjusted and sent to the address the user has given in his application.
The road user who would wish to adjust the existing electronic media to the toll payment with regard to the emission class has to enclose them to the
Application for Adjusting and/or issuance of the electronic media with regard to the EURO emission class (for other languages see table at the bottom of the page). You can send the filled application form by post, by fax +386 1 518 83 05 or scanned via e-mail:

The Toll User Centre will send the road user information in electronic form stating that the vehicle data are inserted in the electronic toll system. When the vehicle passes the combined lane through the toll station for the first time, those data will be inserted also in the adjusted electronic media, however not prior to 1 January 2010.
Using and effecting the toll payment through an adjusted electronic media with regard to the EURO emission class shall be in compliance with the General Terms and Instructions published herewith.
For one vehicle used can be one ABC tag and/or one DARS card (DK) at the most.
For combinations of vehicles in which the drawing vehicle with or without trailer moves from the R3 category to R4 and vice versa, in addition to the ABC tag for the toll-rate category in which most journeys are performed, a DC Card may be issued to pay for the same category or a toll-rate category different from the one recorded on ABC electronic tag. If a DC Card is used for payment, the user should remove the ABC tag from its holder and remove it from the recommended position for installation to prevent automatic communication upon transit through the toll station.
The media, adjusted for toll payment with regard to the EURO emission class are bound to the precisely defined vehicle and are not transferable.
The change of the vehicle ownership and/or the vehicle user tied to the electronic media shall be immediately reported to DARS, d.d. Toll User Centre on a special form (see table below).
The Karavanke road tunnel is excluded from the toll payment with regard to the EURO emission class.
